Job Title: Multi Skilled Plant Technician

Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Salary: £45 000 - £52 000 + 10% Discretionary Bonus + Overtime and Standby rates.

Location: Jersey (Channel Island)

 

Are you an experienced Mechanical Technician/ Engineer Our client is hiring recruiting a Plant Mechanical Technician to join a dynamic and safety-focused team in a highly technical, mission-critical role.

This is a hands-on, operational role ideal for someone with in-depth knowledge delivering excellence in both technical performance and safety management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support across LPG operations and deputize in the absence of the LPG Terminal Production Manager.
  • Supervise LPG plant operations and lead the team during routine and emergency activities.
  • Act as Site Controller when required and participate in the emergency duty Rota (1 in 4).
  • Oversee LPG ship discharge operations, including jetty coordination.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning/decommissioning of pressure systems.
  • Support HS&E initiatives and contribute to zero-incident performance goals.
  • Manage documentation, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes in line with policies.
  • Coordinate workloads through CMMS systems (e.g. Shire) and assist in team scheduling.
  • Ensure uninterrupted gas supply through compliant and efficient plant operations.
  • Mentor and guide apprentices and trainees on site.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience with working with Valves, Actuators, pipework. Working experience within a Mechanical sphere.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical plant operations and emergency response protocols.
  • Proven experience with LPG and/or gas plant systems will be advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, health & safety legislation, and gas regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and manage risks effectively.
  • High level of initiative, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Competent in documentation, planning, and the use of digital maintenance tools.
